Huntington Museum in San Marino, California This man should probably be considered the patron saint of all early morning risers! From the curation card: Jean de Thévenot was a linguist, natural scientist, botanist, and traveler who wrote extensively about his journeys to the eastern Mediterranean and Turkey. He is also the man we can thank for introducing coffee to Parisian society in 1657 and for instructing the French in its use. We do not know why Philippe de Champaigne, one of the greatest French painters of the 17th century, painted his portrait but it is obvious he took pleasure in rendering the lavish fabrics, Turkish-inspired domed architecture, and almost translucent complexion of this striking and exotic figure. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_de_Th%C3%A9venot. Volk then used the mask to create numerous bronze sculptures. Because they were based directly from Lincoln's face, the sculptures have a freshness and level of detail that capture the intensity of the 51-year-old presidential candidate. At the time Volk made the life mask, Lincoln did not yet wear the beard that would later become an iconic part of his popular image. Fujifilm Superia X-tra 800 Nikon F3 Nikkor AI-S 50mm f1.4 This is the official documentary photographer from Apple. Very very cool guy. He uses Canon 5Dmarkiii and some premium L glasses. I spotted a 24-70 f2.8 and a fast ultra wide. Ironically, that day. Me, as a photo journalist and a photographer, only carried a Nikon F3 with AI-S 50 f1.4 and a roll of Fujifilm X-tra 800. I was amazed by the number of the good shots I've got that day and also the quality of them. Sharp, clear and colours are superb.
