Thx 4 The Memories Exhibitions - Photography Events Worcester Boulevard, Christchurch City, After a series of devasting earthquakes in Christchurch, residents in a large part of the eastern suburbs began to hear the words 'Red Zone' and as the Government decreed that numerous homes in suburbs across the city were to totally disappear, the lives of thousands of people were suddenly and irrevocably changed. This large-scale outdoors exhibition by Place In Time, the Christchurch documentary project, records stories and images from one such place, the suburb of Avonside and testifies to their resilience and to the very human strength of their stories. Yellow road marker.

Yellow cat's eyes, road studs or retroreflective raised pavement markers (RRPMs) are used to visually reinforce a yellow no-passing line. The painted passing line can be less visible when the road is wet. Usually a white cat's eye is used in the centre of the road if overtaking is permitted. If yellow cat's eyes are present they are bi-directional if the line is applicable in both directions, or mono-directional if it's only applicable in one direction and spaced every 10m. On unlit rural roads the markers are in groups of four, one metre apart, with 10m between each group. Only one of the group of four road studs is required to be reflective. Location: SCAPE 7 Art Central - corner of Gloucester and Colombo Streets, Christchurch Consisting of ten modular objects that read and function both as trees and as houses, Julia Morisonâ€™s work can be engaged with and explored on many levels. The work incorporates light and plant forms, and creates spaces within itself for reflection and play. This significant legacy piece will remain as a permanent, re-locatable work in Christchurch City. Passing Time 2010

ï»¿Anton Parsons Passing Time sculpture Passing Time is by Auckland-based sculptor Anton Parsons, a graduate of the University of Canterburyâ€™s School of Fine Arts. The work consists of a twisting ribbon of randomly linked boxes - with each box depicting one of the years between 1906 (founding of CPIT) and 2010 (the date of the sculptureâ€™s installation). The Bull is back in Christchurch This bull sculpture was part of an art exhibition that was on last year. The sculpture captivated the people of Christchurch and it is now seen as a symbol of the cityâ€™s grit, determination and strength. The Christchurch Art Gallery Trust is now running a fund-raising campaign to buy the bull for Christchurch. I think this is a fabulous idea and look forward to the campaign being successful and the bull making its permanent home the Christchurch Art Gallery. The bull is by New Zealand artist Michael Parekowhai and is called Chapmanâ€™s Homer. The Bull is back in Christchurch This bull sculpture was part of an art exhibition that was on last year. The longest source for Hubbard Glacier originates 122 kilometres (76 mi) from its snout and is located at about 61Â°00â€²N 140Â°09â€²W, approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) west of Mount Walsh with an altitude around 11,000 feet (3,400 m). A shorter tributary glacier begins at the easternmost summit on the Mount Logan ridge at about 18,300 feet (5,600 m) at about 60Â°35â€²0â€³N 140Â°22â€²40â€³W. Before it reaches the sea, Hubbard is joined by the Valerie Glacier to the west, which, through forward surges of its own ice, has contributed to the advance of the ice flow that experts believe will eventually dam the Russell Fjord from Disenchantment Bay waters. The Styx Mill Conservation Reserve is approximately 57 hectares, extending along the Styx River for nearly 1.6km. The reserve forms part of the natural river corridor associated with the Styx River and provides a diversity of site conditions and opportunities.The Styx Mill Conservation Reserve area came into public ownership in the 1970s. Development began in the 1980s. Today the community plays an important role in the future developments of the reserve. This is to ensure that this natural resource provides enjoyment for our community and its ecological values are retained and further enhanced. Street artists armed with spray cans and paint rollers are coming to the rescue of Christchurch's struggling suburbs and city centre. Dozens of large artworks have been created on walls across the city this month with many more going up this week. The RISE street-art festival has commissioned a dozen large street-art paintings in the city centre, while the From the Ground Up project has organised about 16 large artworks in the city centre and Sydenham. Christchurch business owners and city leaders believe street art will help regenerate areas hit hard by the earthquakes and draw tourists to the city. A rather large gap in Sydenham by artist Wayne Youle. The mural is titled 'I seem to have temporarily misplaced my sense of humour'. The work was created over a few weeks and represents the tools needed to rebuild Christchurch. Don't just drive by! Park the car and get out to take a look. It is located on the corner of Colombo and Bryon Streets.

Warbirds over Wanaka is a biennial air show in Wanaka, held on the Easter weekend of even-numbered years since 1986. It is held at Wanaka Airport, 10 km south-east of Wanaka, in the southern South Island of New Zealand. Initially conceived by New Zealand live deer recovery pioneer, Sir Tim Wallis, as a display day for him to play with his collection of World War II aircraft, the show has grown into a major institution. Roads are closed and traffic is detoured around the area during the weekend. Hotels, motels and backpackers around Wanaka are usually booked well in advance (two years ahead). Doubtful Sound. New Zealand.

Doubtful Sound / Patea is a very large and naturally imposing fiord (despite its name) in Fiordland, in the far south west of New Zealand. It is located in the same region as the smaller but more famous and accessible Milford Sound. It took second place after Milford Sound as New Zealand's most famous tourism destination. History Doubtful Sound was named 'Doubtful Harbour' in 1770 by Captain Cook, who did not enter the inlet as he was uncertain whether it was navigable under sail. It was later renamed Doubtful Sound by whalers and sealers, although it is not technically a sound but a fiord. The Temple Christchurch.

The Temple for Christchurch is a large scale built artwork. Artist Tim Jago is chairman of the Temple for Christchurch Trust, a member of the International Arts Megacrew, and a native Cantabrian. Once completed, the public will be invited to explore the grounds, to pin thoughts and mementos to it, reflect, grieve, and find joy. This project follows in the tradition of the Burning Man festival. The Burning Man temple is built every year on site and invites participants of the festival to come and bring their own hurts, troubles and trauma to be expressed on the walls of this Temple and then be burnt away on the last night. Tim Jago and his team is taking this concept and reimagining it here in Christchurch to allow people to process and release the emotions of the last 18 months of earthquakes. After being open to the public, the temple will be moved to a location outside of town and burned. The Temple for Christchurch is a large scale built artwork.
