I am fostering this big siamese mix guy (about 2 years old) with the hopes that he fulfils the life of Schrödinger who has been a bit bored since we moved out and he isn't with my mother's cat anymore. Even though he gets along with my dog, he cries and cries when I leave with her. And since she comes with me at the office, that is often. If they get along and play well, he will get a name and a forever home here (and hopefully lose some weight). In the immortal words of The Clash 'Should I Stay or Should I Go', it's all very confusing! Some long exposure action in Waikiki on Ala Moana Boulevard which winds through various hotels and skyscrapers to the main commercial area of Honolulu. Taken at a very late hour it took several shots and almost an hour to get the red amber green take. I was determined to get it. Let the Sun Shine in

Although my doctor tells me to get less sun exposure, I feel as if I can never get enough sun light. In most of the buildings I have work in, it seems that most people keep their windows covered. Blinds are closed entirely. Often, no sun light makes it inside. The interior lights are turned on all day. I say, let the sun shine in! For me there is no more pleasant light than daylight. It is a beautiful crisp and cheerful white. Artificial light, especially incandescent has a depressing yellow tinge that makes everything look dingy. Oddly, for me, flourescent, halogen and LED lighting is coloured to make it mimic that depressing (for me) incandescent yellow colour. My preference is like the window on the right. Bring in the sun! Brighten everything up. Banish that yellow artificial light to the basement! 12 Yates St. in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario. Oak Hill is the former residence of William Hamilton Merritt. It is now know as the "White House of Rock" as it is home to three radio stations.

Yes, sadly, I remain dogless. It's not for lack of desire for canine company; it's that my schedule keeps getting more filled with travel that make it feel unfair to take in a dog and then be boarding him/her 50% of the time. It's hard to avoid the pleas from the Humane Society shelter in Payson, the stories of good dogs needing homes in the local papers, and the bulletin board photos outside the Ponderosa Market. But maybe its time to get more creative, or start saying "no" to travel, and get my priorities in order. How can the "CogDog" have no Dog? I would be just a Cog, and at that, I am not biking all that much, so then you can just call me ""!. Yes, sadly, I remain dogless. Inner Basin Trail

Early morning hike on Inner Basin Trail, San Francisco Peaks. 2009-05-30: Saturday evening, we were sitting on the front porch after our evening walk, enjoying a cup of chai and watching the sun set. There had been rain during the late afternoon, and heavy clouds had descended over the Peaks, hiding the mountain from view. The clouds had lifted in time for our evening ritual, and we noticed there was new snow on the upper tips of the Peaks. As we sipped our tea, we joked “If we were really motivated, we’d get up early, hit the Inner Basin Trail at dawn, and get some good photos before the snow melts off…” 2009-05-31: …so, at 4:00AM we stumbled out of bed, grabbed some coffee, got dressed, grabbed more coffee and rolled out the door around 4:30AM. We drove up the mountain, and hit the trail around 5:15AM. There was a bit of a breeze making the hike rather chilly. Everything was wet and green, and the aspens created a delectable aroma. Past Jack Spring (1.5 miles from the trailhead) we hit the frost line, and the vegetation sparkled (and the air was noticeably chillier). We arrived at the Inner Basin (the point where there’s a shelter and pumphouse, and all the Peaks are visible) around 6:45AM. We’d expected some shade still at that hour, and were delighted to discover the sun was shining right up through the low point in the Peaks (the north-eastern side, where the wall was blown out during an eruption), lighting up the entire Inner Basin for us. We wandered around a bit capturing various shots, then headed back to attend to our day’s activities. Hiking report View all the photos from this hike
