An album (muraqqaʿ) of calligraphy in the form of an accordion book put together by an anonymous collector, probably in the 12th century AH/ 18th CE. It consists of leaves bearing fragmentary passages from the Qur’an (Sūrat al-baqarah, 2:65-68 and Sūrat al-nisāʾ, 4:103-106), some sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, and two sheets of pen exercises (ḳaralama). Folio 5a bears the name of the celebrated Ottoman calligrapher Şeyh Hamdullah (Ḥamd Allāh al-Amāsī, d. 926 AH /1520 CE). This page is attributed to Şeyh Hamdullah (d. circa 1520), the most celebrated calligrapher in 16th-century Ottoman Turkey. My childhood dream was home for christmas

I finally went to pick up Sun, my beloved pup, at her foster home. She has been at home with me for 2 full days and I had the best christmas EVER with her. For the first time in my life I did not have to wish real christmas eve to get a dog someday. It feels so unreal that my dream has finally come true, and that I could ADOPT my favorite dog breed is such a blessing. Corgis are really not common here!. I finally went to pick up Sun, my beloved pup, at her foster home. She has been at home with me for 2 full days and I had the best christmas EVER with her. For the first time in my life I did not have to wish real christmas eve to get a dog someday. 28/09/2015. Salvage crews will meet for two hours to decide how they will recover the stranded MV Tuhoe on Tuesday. The 96-year-old ship was returning to its berth in the Kaiapoi River, after receiving more than $200,000 worth of repairs in Lyttelton, when it ran aground on a sandbar at the Waimakariri River mouth about 4pm Sunday. MV Tuhoe Kaiapoi Riverton Trust chairman Philip Redmond said a surveyor had examined the ship and deemed the risk too great to try and save it. Regional harbourmaster Jim Dilley said the ship's owners, insurance company, contractors and a salvage crew would meet with him at 8am on Tuesday to discuss how they could recover the damaged vessel. They would have a detailed plan by 10am. Dilley, who did not know how the ship fared overnight, said on Monday the waves were moving the boat's stern, causing a twisting effect with the potential to break it in half. 28/09/2015. Hmmm, did some aerial agent drop this Christmas tree in our yard? Good shot! It landed in the pool! At least someone got to use the pool this year. Okay, actually we put the tree in here. On the advice of 2 different friends, it is suggested a good day's soak in the pool will help the tree last longer in the Arizona dry climate. "Hey! No rough housing in the deep end!". In 2001 the last of Nanton’s grain elevator row was threatened by demolition because of recent abandonment of the Canadian Pacific Railway that the elevators stood next to. Many worried citizens in and around the town of Nanton had realized that a part of the town's and province's history was about to be torn down and lost forever. The concerned citizens of Nanton had rallied together and formed a Historical Society appropriately named "Save One". Of course the original goal of the save one effort was to do just that, save one, but before anything could be done to save the elevator the Society had to gain full title to the land and buildings. Which was a big undertaking that would take three years to achieve. With so many volunteer hours from many local businesses and citizens, the Society was so successful that not only did they end up saving just one elevator, but all three remaining elevators. Many donations from members and surrounding farmers-ranchers, have been made and have helped in replacing the railway tracks next to the elevators the completion of many of the repairs and restorations that needed to be done on the elevators. Including painting the former Alberta Wheat Pool back to its original green and the former Pioneer elevator back to the original orange & yellow. Taking a closer look results in seeing details often missed. I have walked past this japanese maple tree thousands of times. Seeing the nice contrast of the red leaves against a background of green from the nearby sugar maple tree, I decided to take a photo. Neu looks so much more like a hamster now. He scared me last night. I heard loud squeaking noises from his cage and ran to get him. He had a piece of cotton bedding wraped around one of his feet so tight that his toes were all red! It was super hard to take it off because Neu wouldn't stop moving and squeaking. But I did it! No more cotton bedding for my hammies, I'll stick with giving them pieces of toilet paper instead, thank god his cage is near my bed and I heard him, otherwise who knows what would have happened to his foot :(. Although they are arboreal creatures and are specialists of swinging from tree to tree (brachiation), they are also terrestrial when foraging. White-faced sakis typically live around 14 years in their natural habitat and have been recorded to live up to 36 years in captivity. Sakis are active in the day and sleep highly elevated in trees with many leaves to shelter them from weather and flying predators. A formerly recognized subspecies of this monkey, was elevated to full species status in 2014. Chester Zoo Cheshire 58/365. My submission to Flickr Commons: Kilburn Grange cinema (1914-1975) on Kilburn High, showing Passions of Men among others. A film called "The Passions of Men" was made in 1914, which is the same year Kilburn Grange Cinema opened. I think this should be considered as having a CC0 license, ie no copyright restrictions, which is what the cultural organisations participating in the Commons give to the majority of their posted photos. After all, we didn't take the photos - those who did will largely be deceased, and I think the copyright on them will also have expired. In this case sadly, I have no idea who the original photographer was - it would be nice to credit them when the picture is used!

Carl Zeiss Jena DDR 135mm f3.5 Sony Alpha A300 Test shot taken with a Carl Zeiss Jena DDR 135mm f3.5 M42 lens with an aperture of f3.5. When I purchased this lens the aperture blades did not move at all and it was stuck wide open. After dismantling it, cleaning it thoroughly and putting it back together (along with much swearing) it now works properly again. This is one of the first photos taken to check it works as it should. It is located in the same region as the smaller but more famous and accessible Milford Sound. It took second place after Milford Sound as New Zealand's most famous tourism destination. The converted people began to revere the Fir tree as God's Tree, as they had previously revered the Oak. By the 12th century it was being hung, upside-down, from ceilings at Christmastime in Central Europe, as a symbol of Christianity. The first decorated tree was at Riga in Latvia, in 1510. In the early 16th century, Martin Luther is said to have decorated a small Christmas Tree with candles, to show his children how the stars twinkled through the dark night. It is said that Thomas Edison made over ten thousand attempts before succeeding to create a light bulb efficient enough to commercially produce (others invented light bulbs, although inefficient ones, before he did).
