A little update on Schrödinger since he's been home for a while now. He's a delight, very friendly and talkative. He is obsessed with food however and we now have to keep the kitchen door closed at all times or he will get into EVRYTHING. He has recently found out how to open the cupboards... yup. He gets along very well with Chi, they sometimes play together but Schrody is more keen on playing with humans and Chi isn't very keen on playing at all. But the frequently nap together. I can't let him out on the terrace alone unfortunatly as he is fearless and goes dangerously close to the edges, under the railings on the outer side... I take him out to take the sunlight on the leash and he still enjoys the sun from the window. Mainly my room window, which is his absolute favorite spot. We still need to microchip him and redo tests for feline leukemia and FIV (they were apparently done by the shelter but I have no proof of it on his health booklet...) but he misbehaves at the vet and it was already hell to give him his vaccines, so we are waiting for him to hopefully mellow down before injecting the chip and doing bloodwork. The origin of the sanctuary is problematic because of the lack of documentation but there are several hypotheses as to the legend of King Jayon in which we talk about the conversion of an Islamic stronghold following the appearance of the Virgin or that relates the building of the temple with he existence of a Carthusian monastery founded early, though I can not discarded the possibility of the existence of a Roman or Visigothic nucleus in place, related to past mining in the area. There are others who point to the hypothesis that the work was sent to build by Don Garcia Ramirez santiaguista prior to the late fourteenth and early fifteenth century. The flume (now removed) that once fed water from the diversion dam at the springs to the Irving power plant is visible running along the length of the canyon. This section of road is currently (2016) closed due to safety issues caused by rock falls along the cliff above the road. Fossil Creek is one of only two National Wild & Scenic rivers in Arizona and is fed by springs coming from the cliffs of the Mogollon Rim. Over 30 million gallons of water are discharged each day at a constant 70°F. The high mineral content leaves travertine dams and deposits, giving rise to fossil-like features. In 2005, Arizona Public Service (APS) decommissioned the Fossil Creek Dam and Flume, restoring full flows to Fossil Creek. The diversion dam at Fossil Springs was partially removed, allowing the creek to flow freely. The flume that once carried water to the power plant was disassembled. The Irving power plant and other buildings around the site were removed. Traces of history remain visible at the Irving site and along the Flume Trail in the form of old building foundations, rock work along the flume's maintenance road, and concrete pilings that once supported the flume. In 2005, Arizona Public Service (APS) decommissioned the Fossil Creek Dam and Flume, restoring full flows to Fossil Creek. The diversion dam at Fossil Springs was partially removed, allowing the creek to flow freely. The flume that once carried water to the power plant was disassembled. The Irving power plant and other buildings around the site were removed. Traces of history remain visible at the Irving site and along the Flume Trail in the form of old building foundations, rock work along the flume's maintenance road, and concrete pilings that once supported the flume. Amongst the heaviest flying birds in the world, pelicans as a group evolved from marine ancestors, but six of the seven species including the Australian pelican spend most of their time on rivers, lakes, inland seas and coastal waters. Male Australian pelicans can weigh in excess of 10 kg, but 8 kg is a more usual upper weight. Recognised instantly by their massive bill and pouch, pelicans mainly eat fish, and they nest colonially. They soar spectacularly on thermals, occasionally to great heights (3000 m or more), and they display precise orchestration of movement when feeding cooperatively or flying in V formation. Fossil Creek 2006

Fossil Creek just below the Irving power plant site, 2006. The power plant had been decommissioned and the structures were in the process of being removed before the creek was granted the "Wild and Scenic" designation in 2009. Fossil Creek is one of only two National Wild & Scenic rivers in Arizona and is fed by springs coming from the cliffs of the Mogollon Rim. Over 30 million gallons of water are discharged each day at a constant 70°F. The high mineral content leaves travertine dams and deposits, giving rise to fossil-like features.
