He did many good works there, and spent much time in Thuringia, an area which was to become the cradle of the Christmas Decoration Industry. Legend has it that he used the triangular shape of the Fir Tree to describe the Holy Trinity of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The converted people began to revere the Fir tree as God's Tree, as they had previously revered the Oak. By the 12th century it was being hung, upside-down, from ceilings at Christmastime in Central Europe, as a symbol of Christianity. The first decorated tree was at Riga in Latvia, in 1510. The Canadian Grain Elevator Discovery Centre is a set of restored grain elevators located in Nanton, Alberta, Canada. The centre's goal is to preserve examples of old grain elevators to educate visitors about the town's, and Alberta's, agricultural history. In 2001 the last of Nantonâ€™s grain elevator row was threatened by demolition because of recent abandonment of the Canadian Pacific Railway that the elevators stood next to. Many worried citizens in and around the town of Nanton had realized that a part of the town's and province's history was about to be torn down and lost forever. It is readily distinguished from the closely-related Cortinarius semisanguineus (the specific epithet means half blood-red because the latter has blood-red gills beneath a pale olive-brown cap - hence its common name the Surprise Webcap. The Bloodred Webcap is found mainly in coniferous woodland and particularly in dark, damp and mossy forests. The artwork is a celebration of place. The simple singular form made of four equal parts are a reflection of Christchurch, with its well planned and laid out built environment. All the parts are connected and necessary for the whole to function. The Ag-Cat design goes back to 1955 when Grumman designers Joe Lippert and Arthur Koch put forward a proposal for a new agricultural aircraft. Lippert and Koch saw a need for a strong aircraft for crop dusting and spraying as there were no good purpose-built aircraft and the accident rate with surplus WWII trainers adapted for ag work (such as the Boeing Stearman) was high. With its elegant long neck, the black swan (Cygnus atratus) is New Zealandâ€™s largest wetland bird, around 1.2 metres long and weighing 5â€“6 kilograms. On the water, it appears all black with a bright red bill; however, in flight the bird shows wide white wing margins. It has a bugle-like call, and hisses to defend its nest. Native or introduced? About 100 black swans were brought to the South Island from Australia in the 1860s, and the species has traditionally been regarded as introduced. However, numbers have increased faster than expected, suggesting more birds arrived independently â€“ in which case it should be considered a self-introduced native.
