The sun rises as the last wisps of a passing storm blanket the San Francisco Peaks. Fall color on the San Francisco Peaks, viewed from the White Horse Hills along Forest Road 418, October 2, 2016. This drive takes you all the way around Arizona's highest mountain, winding through a land of pine forests and aspen groves, open prairies and rustic homesteads. Autumn turns the mountain to gold, filling forest roads and trails with visitors come to enjoy the colorful display. Because the road becomes very rough and rocky between Bear Jaw and Abineau canyons, a mid to high clearance vehicle is required to complete the loop. However, fall color can be seen on either end of the road accessible to low clearance passenger cars. There are a number of places along this route where you can stop to take a hike, enjoy a lunch or even set up a primitive camp. That way you can take more than one day to do this drive or combine it with one or more of the other scenic drives in the vicinity of the San Francisco Peaks. The White Horse Hills are northwest of the Abineau-Bear Jaw Trailhead entrance on the north side of the road. The Wetterhorn (3692 m) is a mountain mass with three rocky summits of similar height, all rising from snow and ice-covered slopes. The mountain poses magnificently for photographs, and is one of the most often photographed mountains from the town of Grindelwald. Located just east of town, it is also one of the most often climbed mountains in the Alps. It rises just north of the great trio of peaks, Eiger (3970 m), Mönch (4107 m), and Jungfrau (4158 m). Safdarjung's Tomb complex, Delhi, India

Safdarjung's tomb represents the last phase of the Mughal style of architecture. The tomb of Safdarjung was built in red sandstone and buff stone. There are two graves here, one of Safdarjung and the other apparently his wife's. The square central chamber of the mausoleum is surrounded by eight rooms all around. All the apartments, except the corner ones are rectangular in shape, the corner ones being octagonal. The dome of the tomb rises from a sixteen-sided base. On either side of the Safdarjung tomb are beautiful pavilions, known as Moti Mahal or the pearl palace, Jangli Mahal or the sylvan palace and Badshah Pasand or the emperor's favorite. Safdarjung's tomb represents the last phase of the Mughal style of architecture. The tomb of Safdarjung was built in red sandstone and buff stone. There are two graves here, one of Safdarjung and the other apparently his wife's. The square central chamber of the mausoleum is surrounded by eight rooms all around. All the apartments, except the corner ones are rectangular in shape, the corner ones being octagonal. The dome of the tomb rises from a sixteen-sided base. On either side of the Safdarjung tomb are beautiful pavilions, known as Moti Mahal or the pearl palace, Jangli Mahal or the sylvan palace and Badshah Pasand or the emperor's favorite.

Red Mountain Trail No. 159

Red Mountain is a volcanic cinder cone that rises 1,000 feet above the surrounding landscape. It is unusual in having the shape of a "U," and in lacking the symmetrical shape of most cinder cones. In addition, a large natural amphitheater cuts into the cone's northeast flank. Erosional pillars called "hoodoos" decorate the amphitheater, and many dark mineral crystals erode out of its walls. Studies by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Northern Arizona University scientists suggest that Red Mountain formed in eruptions about 740,000 years ago. The trailhead is located on U.S. Highway 180, 25 miles northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona. The trail is an easy 1.5 miles through open terrain with fantastic views of the San Francisco Peaks and surrounding San Francisco Volcanic Field.
