Thx 4 The Memories Exhibitions - Photography Events Worcester Boulevard, Christchurch City, After a series of devasting earthquakes in Christchurch, residents in a large part of the eastern suburbs began to hear the words 'Red Zone' and as the Government decreed that numerous homes in suburbs across the city were to totally disappear, the lives of thousands of people were suddenly and irrevocably changed. A-Maze ing -Laughter.English Bay Vancouver.

A-maze-ing Laughter was designed by Yue Minjun and installed in Morton Park along the English Bay in West End, Vancouver in 2009. The patinated bronze sculpture portrays the artist's own image "in a state of hysterical laughter". It was created as part of the Vancouver International Sculpture Biennale, which exhibits international contemporary works in public spaces. The sculpture was donated to the City of Vancouver by Chip and Shannon Wilson through the Wilson Foundation on August 11, 2012. The Remarkables are a mountain range and skifield in Otago, South Island of New Zealand. Located on the southeastern shore of Lake Wakatipu, the range lives up to its name by rising sharply to create an impressive backdrop for the waters. The range is clearly visible from the nearby town of Queenstown. The highest point in the range is Double Cone (2319 metres) with Ben Nevis (2234 metres, named after the Scottish mountain of the same name) further south in the Hector mountains. SEE THE GULLS: Australian artist Anthony Lister has created an enormous artwork on the wall of Les Mills in the city centre for the RISE street-art festival. Street artists armed with spray cans and paint rollers are coming to the rescue of Christchurch's struggling suburbs and city centre. Dozens of large artworks have been created on walls across the city this month with many more going up this week. The RISE street-art festival has commissioned a dozen large street-art paintings in the city centre, while the From the Ground Up project has organised about 16 large artworks in the city centre and Sydenham. Christchurch business owners and city leaders believe street art will help regenerate areas hit hard by the earthquakes and draw tourists to the city. Warbirds over Wanaka is a biennial air show in Wanaka, held on the Easter weekend of even-numbered years since 1986. It is held at Wanaka Airport, 10 km south-east of Wanaka, in the southern South Island of New Zealand. Initially conceived by New Zealand live deer recovery pioneer, Sir Tim Wallis, as a display day for him to play with his collection of World War II aircraft, the show has grown into a major institution. Roads are closed and traffic is detoured around the area during the weekend. Hotels, motels and backpackers around Wanaka are usually booked well in advance (two years ahead). On the plaza is a mythic landscape: a cone of local rundle stone is a reference to the mountains; overscaled bronze ammonites a hidden landscape exposed. Standing on top, between earth and sky, are two bronze figures, back to back. Standing to the side, holding a fossil, is another figure â€“ his gaze distracted by the view of the sky. Weaving Fence and Horn

Calgarians welcomed a new piece of public sculpture downtown during the summer of 2002. John McEwen's â€œWeaving Fence and Hornâ€ sits on the corner of 1 Street and 4 Avenue SW in front of the TransCanada Tower. Installed in June, the sculpture consists of two componentsâ€” a metal ram's horn and a fence. According to the artist, the weaving refers to the undulation of fences as they snake across the rolling prairies and to the weaving of dialogue between fence and horn. The sculpture will also function as a windbreak, reducing the blustery nature of one of downtown Calgary's windiest street corners.

The Bull is back in Christchurch This bull sculpture was part of an art exhibition that was on last year. The sculpture captivated the people of Christchurch and it is now seen as a symbol of the cityâ€™s grit, determination and strength. The Christchurch Art Gallery Trust is now running a fund-raising campaign to buy the bull for Christchurch. I think this is a fabulous idea and look forward to the campaign being successful and the bull making its permanent home the Christchurch Art Gallery. The Styx Mill Conservation Reserve is approximately 57 hectares, extending along the Styx River for nearly 1.6km. The reserve forms part of the natural river corridor associated with the Styx River and provides a diversity of site conditions and opportunities.The Styx Mill Conservation Reserve area came into public ownership in the 1970s. Development began in the 1980s. Today the community plays an important role in the future developments of the reserve. This is to ensure that this natural resource provides enjoyment for our community and its ecological values are retained and further enhanced. The cup shaped flowers are of medium size. Their colour is an unusually rich, pure yellow that would be hard to match even among modern roses, and is entirely missing from old roses. There is a medium-strong, fresh tea rose fragrance, with a cool violet character typical of its colour group. It has attractive, smooth green foliage. Good repeat-flowering from early summer onwards.
