Wine-making grapes, like these Syrah (or Shiraz) grapes, require different growing conditions than grapes meant for eating. Cultivating wine grapes involves trying to concentrate sugars and encourage thicker skins, because these are what give wine its flavor. The name of this computer, alone, sounds like a #TBT worthy of sharing! This was the Datatron-205 (can't imagine what the previous version looked like) that was detailed to the USGS from NASA Ames Research Center back in 1964. Valued at a mere $287,000, the Datatron was to be used for astrogeological studies. NASA had used it for testing spacecraft, but it was provided to the USGS to refine and detail lunar photos for the astronauts as they approached the Moon so they could better understand the terrain and structure. The Flagstaff Milestone quoted, Wayne Lowry, an electrical engineer for the Burroughs Company (who built the machine), as saying, "A problem that would take four mathematicians one year to do can be solved by this machine in 30 minutes." I'm more than devastated, words can't describe it. I don't understand why she died, yesterday night she was fine, she ate her dinner and came on my bed for pets as usual while I was watching a movie. She was her usual sweet, happy self... and this morning I find her dead in her litterbox. WHY? I've always done everything for her to be healthy and happy, and she wasn't even 2 years old yet... I don't know what to do with myself right now. She was the prettiest girl and I loved her SO SO much. I'm more than devastated, words can't describe it. This sweet baby has been visiting my balcony every morning for the past few days now, cooing for attention... She/he seems quite sickly and lost. I can get close without it moving, but not touch it. I think it might be someone's escaped pet, as it's quite friendly and clean for a city bird. Been feeding it some grain, not sure what else I can do. Ring-Tailed Lemur

It is incredible to see them climb and jump around in that tree. They are derpy little buggers but they are also incredibly quick and nimble. Their enclosure is also a great example of life in captivity done right. Sure, they aren't free. But other than that they can do what they want. They also appear to be pretty happy, they don't show any signs of boredom or aggression, which are usually signs for primates that aren't happy or that went crazy in captivity. These lemurs are curious, they are actively foraging for food and they actually seem to enjoy the presence of the visitors. It is incredible to see them climb and jump around in that tree.
