Northland Green Gecko.NZ

The Northland Green Gecko is found only in the Northland region of New Zealand, north of Whangaroa. It is vivid green, with gray or gold highlights, on either side - along the dorsal edges. Males have a blue band along the sides, below the limbs, and the underbelly of both sexes is bright pale green and sometimes with a yellow tinge. Growth is to 200 mm. The positioning of benches of often curious. Typically they are placed to provide a suitable view of the surroundings or to provide social gathering space with others on other benches. Sometimes the positon of a bench may seem inappropriate. Here on the shores of Lake Ontario in Kingston, Ontario, the bench seems to be missplaced. It would seem that the view to be promotted should be the lake and Wolf Island beyond. During most of the day, this is a pleasant view of the windmills on the island as well as the frequent sailcraft on the lake. In order to take in this view, one must either sit sideways on the bench or turn one's head awkwardly to the left, risking future neck strain induced soreness. What one does not realize during the day is that this bench deliberately facing west so as to be ideally located to take in the spectacular sunsets in the evening over Lake Ontario. he Moeraki Boulders are unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach on the wave cut Otago coast of New Zealand between Moeraki and Hampden. They occur scattered either as isolated or clusters of boulders within a stretch of beach where they have been protected in a scientific reserve. The erosion by wave action of mudstone, comprising local bedrock and landslides, frequently exposes embedded isolated boulders. Safdarjung's Tomb complex, Delhi, India

Safdarjung's tomb represents the last phase of the Mughal style of architecture. The tomb of Safdarjung was built in red sandstone and buff stone. There are two graves here, one of Safdarjung and the other apparently his wife's. The square central chamber of the mausoleum is surrounded by eight rooms all around. All the apartments, except the corner ones are rectangular in shape, the corner ones being octagonal. The dome of the tomb rises from a sixteen-sided base. On either side of the Safdarjung tomb are beautiful pavilions, known as Moti Mahal or the pearl palace, Jangli Mahal or the sylvan palace and Badshah Pasand or the emperor's favorite. The gods Horus (not preserved) and the ibis-headed Thoth poured water -- here represented by streams of ankh (life) and was (dominion) hieroglyphs -- over the head of the king. Snowmelt from a series winter storms in late January 2017 followed by rain and warm weather in February had dry creekbeds running and many of Arizona's reservoirs filled and overflowing. Dry Beaver Creek in Woods Canyon was no exception. Woods Canyon Trail is level and unshaded as it follows a jeep road into the wide canyon mouth for 1.25 miles. The road ends and the trail continues, climbing gradually. There are views of the vegetation-covered slopes of mesas on either side. The trail enters Munds Mountain Wilderness continuing its easy climb. The trail approaches and then follows Dry Beaver Creek. At the confluence with Rattlesnake Canyon, the trail emerges onto a picturesque expanse of redrock studded with huge, gray boulders. Towers on buildings have long been meant as a symbol to all who view them. Some towers offer a promise of passage to the heavens. Some towers represent the power of those within and are intended to either strike fear of respect (or both) from viewers. Other towers are meant as a simple symbol of wealth, influence and perhaps sophistication. What then to make of a tower at an art gallery? Does it represent the collection? Is this tower a simple homage to the tower at the library of the parliament buildings in Ottawa, across the Rideau Canal? Or is this a symbol of the skill and talent of the architect and engineer that designed and built it? Regardless of the true intended symbolism of this tower, it sure looks nice against the evening sky while lit from inside.
